In 2008 the Carolina Green Fair launched in Marion Square in partnership with the Charleston City Paper and the help of a variety of non-profit organizations, businesses, and individuals who were looking to advance a greener vision of the Lowcountry.  Since our first year we have expanded and grown and for the first time we have a new home at James Island County Park and a new partner in Charleston County Parks and Recreation (CCPRC).  What has remained consistent through all of our first five years was the participation of Home Team BBQ.  That very first year, our green audience clamored for the tasty pulled pork sandwiches and their legendary collard greens and mac & cheese.  No, they are not vegan, but there is no doubt that this homegrown restaurant group has become the signature barbecue of the south and they continue to win awards and gain recognition for their commitment to serious food.  Home Team BBQ now has restaurants in both West Ashley and Sullivan’s Island and their Home Team Kitchen serves up many of their tasty menu items at The Alley in downtown Charleston.   While the world asks the question, “Is barbeque a backyard event or a type of food?”  Those of us who live in the Lowcountry know that the only word for barbeque that makes any sense is “Hometeam.” We are proud to have them as our official sponsor and restaurant partner and our mouths are watering in anticipation on what they will serve up at James Island County Park on September 22nd.
